Jack Russell / Tracii Guns
In the late 1980s/early 1990s hair metal era, Great White debuted in the Top 40 with their version of Ian Hunter’s “Once Bitten Twice Shy,” which reached No. 5 in 1989 and became a gold single for the Los Angeles quintet. Their softer composition “The Angel Song” followed in the Top 40 later that year, with vocalist Jack Russell balancing beauty and power in his delivery. The following year, as the 1990s began, L.A. Guns debuted in the Top 40 with “The Ballad of Jayne” with an electrifying guitar solo from Tracii Guns. Now Frontiers Music has brought Jack Russell and Tracii Guns together as Russell – Guns, drawing not only from their hair metal era genre but also 1970s classic rock sounds of Deep Purple, Boston, and Foreigner.
