Griffin is a metal band from San Francisco, California in the United States who were an early group within the US Power Metal genre. They were initially formed as Sinister Savage in 1980 and changed their name to Griffin in 1982. A couple of demo's were produced, which led to the release of their debut full-length album Flight of the Griffin in 1984. It was followed by Protectors of the Lair in 1986, which was the final Griffin release until 2011, at which point an archival single was released. No new material has been produced, though the band is still known to be active.
